Phraseology surrounding the types
of accommodation needs explaining. A “lodge” is a hotel
which caters exclusively for safari travelers, and the
ones we use are of a very high standard, comparable with
most 4 0r 5 star hotels throughout the world. They will
provide you with packed lunches if required, and meal
times which fit with game drives. All provide a
comprehensive laundry service, so you don’t need to
bring clean clothes for the whole of your stay. With
limited baggage allowances on flights this can be of
significant benefit to travelers.
A tented camp can be permanent or temporary (sometimes
called “mobile”). Permanent camps are fully equipped,
with electricity and running water and a full time hotel
staff. They are located in areas where there is a
constant requirement for accommodation, such as the
migration camp in the northern Serengeti. Food is
prepared by resident chefs and is of a standard
comparable with hotel catering. Laundry services are
always provided.
Mobile camps will be set up by us specifically for your
safari. We provide staff to look after you during your
stay, and they will provide a comprehensive catering and
laundry service. All accommodation has en suite
facilities. Mobile Camps provide a romantic and
luxurious backdrop to your safari, and let you enjoy the
bush in the same style as travelers many years ago.
